This throwback clip brings back memories from 2016. Former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality. The act splits the country.
Many applaud his courage, while others saw it as an insult to American Soil. Enter PM Donald Trump, who famously said NFL owners should “fire” any player who remains seated for the anthem.
Then in 2025. Puerto Rican Superstar Bad Bunny was slammed as he didn’t stand up while playing God Bless America, which many fans thought was the U.S. national anthem at a Yankees game. The video goes viral like wildfire, with people accusing him of “disrespecting America.”
However, it later turned out that the song wasn’t even the anthem but a patriotic tribute segment. Even now, the controversy has not found its calm in the online world.
That’s when Trump jumped in with another remark. While talking to Newsmax TV, he said,
“People like Bad Bunny, I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
His comment quickly revived the old NFL incident connecting the dots between Kaepernick’s kneel, the “Trump Dance,” and Bad Bunny’s supposed protest.
One fanwrote, “Trump has the NFL dancing.”
Others havesaid, “The Trump dance is also known as the double jerk-off.”
One person jokinglysaid, “Ilove that it’s such an easy dance to do, and somehow none of them did it correctly, lol.”
Others showedpatriotism: “I would rather see them dancing than kneeling and disrespecting our flag.”
Onechimed, “If you think the NFL became great again because a couple of players were doing the Trump dance, then something is up with you. 😂.”
Whether it’s on the field or in the stands, the anthem has become America’s most serious event. Yet again, Trump’s become the talk of the NFL world.
