Manchester United are continuing their run of scouting talent from South America with their recent interest in talented Colombia international Neiser Villarreal.
Over the last 12 months, United have signed both Diego Leon and Cristian Orozco from Paraguay and Colombia, respectively.
The duo were both signed under their 18th birthday, having to wait for their offical move to the club, with Orozco still unable to officially join The Red Devils until next summer.
However, Villarreal is the latest South American star earning a place on United’s shortlist.
Taking to X, El VBar Caracol explained that two English clubs and two Italian clubs had joined the race for Neiser Villarreal, with “Scouts in Attendance” adding more detail to the matter.
The social media account explained that United are understood to be one of the two English clubs, however Barcelona are also monitoring the 20-year-old, adding more competition into the mix.
It’s also understood that United scouts were in attendance at the Under-20s World Cup where Villarreal represented Colombia, grabbing five goals in two games with a brace against South Africa in the Round of 16 and a hatrick against Spain in the Quarter-Finals.
However, the striker is set to be out of contract with Millonarios this December, having already signed a pre-contract agreement with Brazilian side Cruzeiro before the World Cup got underway.
That said, the agreement hasn’t seemed to disuade United, or his other suitors, with the striker still firmly on United’s radar.
