ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Broncos edge rusher Jonah Elliss stretched out to open practice, but then went off to a side field as the team continued its preparations in advance of Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
Elliss missed last Sunday’s game against the Jets due to the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 5 at Philadelphia. He has not practiced since then.
The second-year edge rusher has also been dealing with an injury to his ribs since the practices leading up to the Eagles game, but he played through it on Oct. 5.
With Elliss taking part in the pre-practice calisthenics, all Broncos players on the active roster and practice squad were present and accounted for during stretching to open Thursday’s on-field session.
BRONCOS KEEP RAMPING UP DRE GREENLAW
Meanwhile, inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw practiced for a second-consecutive day.
Greenlaw returned to the field Wednesday, practicing for the first time since Sept. 12. He officially remains on injured reserve; the Broncos have a 21-day window to decide whether to move him to the 53-player roster. That window expires Nov. 5.
Denver used only three days of that window on defensive lineman Malcolm Roach last week, moving him to the active roster last Saturday. He made his regular-season debut in London last Sunday after missing the first five games because of a calf strain.
Greenlaw has yet to play in a game — preseason or regular-season — since joining the Broncos in March. He began dealing with quadriceps issues in April when he first injured the muscle during an offseason workout.
