The Buffalo Bills could be in the market to bolster the offense before the deadline on Nov. 4, and one name that keeps popping up is New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave

The Buffalo Bills have been urged to trade for New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave to give Josh Allen a crucial offensive weapon.
As part of a Monday Night Football double-header, the Allen and the Bills offense struggled to get going in a crushing loss to the Atlanta Falcons. It was Buffalo’s second successive loss, with the franchise surrendering first-place in the AFC East to the New England Patriots.

Given the faltering offense alongside injuries to weapons like Joshua Palmer — who went down after a banned hip-drop tackle — and Curtis Samuel, as well as Dalton Kincaid, the Bills could make a move ahead of next month’s trade deadline. Olave could be available, who would represent a huge addition.

With the deadline coming up, plenty of NFL franchises are set to make moves. Other teams are also looking to add to their receiver room, and Olave is one name that keeps coming up. "There are a handful of surefire sellers this season already, and the Saints are one of them," The Athletic's Bills writer Joe Buscaglia wrote in a recent column.
"And if the Bills want to put a serious asset in a trade to acquire an impactful, young receiver, Chris Olave should be at or near the top of their list if he’s available."
In each appearance in 2025 except one, Olave has amassed 54 or more yards through the air while additionally receiving double-digit targets. The Ohio State product is coming off his best performance of the season, accumulating six catches for 98 yards in the Saints’ 25-19 loss to the New England Patriots.
Olave can win the ball in the air, run effective routes, and create separation in short, intermediate, and deep parts of the field. Among receivers this season, only Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Drake London have earned targets more often than the 25-year-old and his 29.8 percent target rate.

If the Bills are going to acquire a receiver who can truly impact their game, Olave should be near the top of the list.
He fits financially, too; the Saints picked up his fifth-year option for 2026, so he’s under contract at $15.5 million for 2026, so the Bills would get roughly a year and a half before needing to decide whether to offer him a long-term deal.
His contract would expire at a similar time to when the Bills would make a similar decision over Keon Coleman, which means the franchise would have options.

Olave also provides the talent profile the receiver room is missing, has a high ceiling, and is perhaps the star wideout Allen has been lacking since Stefon Diggs departed Buffalo.
However, there are downsides. Olave has an injury history with four concussions across his NFL career, along with an ankle issue that affected his campaign last season, in which he only appeared in eight games, putting up 400 yards and a touchdown.
Olave’s best NFL season came in 2023 with Derek Carr as his quarterback. The duo combined for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns over 11 starts.
