Danny Murphy has now shared his thoughts on how Sunday’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United will play out.
This will be the first meeting of the teams in the 2025-26 season, with neither club in the best run of form.
Liverpool have lost three games on the bounce across all competitions, whereas Man United are currently sitting in 10th place.

Before their last three games, no fans, pundits, or journalists were even thinking about the Red Devils beating Liverpool.

However, now that they’re in a rut, questions are being asked about whether Liverpool have what it takes to beat Man United.
Danny Murphy thinks Liverpool will beat Manchester United on Sunday
On paper, the Reds have a much stronger team than Ruben Amorim has at his disposal.
And, even though Mohamed Salah hasn’t played very well this term, former Man United man Paul Parker thinks that Salah will have a field day against Luke Shaw due to his laziness.
The fact that Alexander Isak has now played two full games for Sweden also bodes well for Liverpool, but with the debate about who Slot should start between him and Hugo Ekitike, it’s unclear what’s going to happen in that department.

Despite all this, predictions are still being made ahead of the clash with Murphy, now chipping in with his own opinion.
“I mean, people are expecting Liverpool to win, but Liverpool vs United’s a huge fixture across the world,” he said on talkSPORT.
“And we’ve seen last year United turn up there and fight, and their top players putting in performances, they played well, so it won’t be easy.
“I think Liverpool get over the line. I think there’s a need and a must to get over the line and put those three defeats to bed.
“But yeah, it’s a great game because the one thing you don’t have to worry about when you play Man United is the fans. It’ll be electric.”
Arne Slot will be looking towards Mohamed Salah to be the difference-maker for Liverpool
Although most of Liverpool’s players have performed below expectations this season, there have been some moments when their talent has shone through.
In fact, Ekitike has actually exceeded the expectations of Djibril Cisse and many others, with the Frenchman quickly becoming one of Liverpool’s most important players.
However, there’s no hiding from the fact that Salah will be the man that Slot looks towards to make the difference.

Salah is coming off the back of scoring a brace for Egypt, with the Reds’ fans hoping that’ll bring some of his goal-scoring prowess with him to Anfield on Sunday.
Other players may also be given a chance to shine, but since Salah has scored 16 goals against Manchester United throughout his career, it’s clear that he’s going to be the main man.
