Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Indiana Pacers

Just one preseason game stands between the San Antonio Spurs and their 82-game journey for the 2025-26 NBA season. They’ll wrap up their preseason schedule with a rematch against the Indiana Pacers, who they defeated 124-108 on Monday. A win would keep the Spurs undefeated in the preseason, and keep momentum going into their opening matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

San Antonio gave their regular season rotational players an extended run in their last matchup against the Pacers. Fans should expect more of the same on Friday to close the season. With De’Aaron Fox and Jeremy Sochan now expected to miss a few games to start the regular season, the rotation they play on Friday night should closely resemble what we see until those key contributors return.

Victor Wembanyama has looked unstoppable in the preseason. Five games of dominance bodes well for what we will see in the regular season. Wembanyama is an early-season favorite for another All-Star appearance and should be a competitor for the Defensive Player of the Year. It’s just the preseason, but all signs are pointing toward a career-best season from the third-year big man.

The Spurs wings have played extremely well this preseason. Julian Champagnie has been a lights out shooter in the starting lineup. Keldon Johnson has been incredible offensively. Even the rookie Carter Bryant has looked solid. Are these preseason performances a flash in the pan, or an indication of what is to come? Another good performance from the wings on Friday night would build momentum heading into the regular season next week.

Arguably the biggest story of the preseason outside of Wembanyama’s play has been how good Spurs’ rookie Dylan Harper has looked. The guard looks like a natural playmaker, sound defender, and awesome all-around offensive player in the preseason. It’ll be interesting to see what his role is once the team is back to full health, but right now, he’s making the most of his preseason opportunities.
