Premier League football returns this weekend as Leeds United face Burnley, but how does Chris Sutton think the game will unfold?
Two of the Premier League’s newly promoted sides will meet at Turf Moor on Saturday in what promises to be a crucial fixture in both teams’ seasons.
Leeds and Burnley have made promising starts to the 2025-26 campaign, but Daniel Farke’s men have been the superior team so far.

The Whites are currently four points ahead of Scott Parker’s side, and they could create a sizeable gap between them this weekend, which Burnley will be keen to avoid.
Chris Sutton is predicting a close encounter between Leeds United and Burnley
The supporters are likely to see this fixture as a classic ‘six-pointer,’ but Sutton told BBC Sport that he sees the two teams playing out a goalless draw.
“Burnley have been a bit unlucky to lose four out of four on the road so far, but they really need to get something at home, especially against another promoted team.
“The Clarets beat Sunderland at Turf Moor at the start of the season, which is their only league win to date.
“Scott Parker’s side have been competitive in most of their other games too but so have Leeds, who have scored the same amount of goals as Burnley – seven – but feel like they carry a bit more of a threat.
“This is going to be very tight. I don’t like going for too many draws, but this fixture finished 0-0 in the Championship last season, and I am going for the same outcome this time.”
Both teams will be aiming to get back to winning ways following their most recent outing before the international break, where they suffered 2-1 losses against teams pushing for European football.
Leeds were defeated 2-1 by Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, Burnley fell short against Aston Villa despite Lesley Ugochukwu’s 78th-minute goal, attempting to inspire a comeback.
What is Leeds United and Burnley’s head-to-head record?
Leeds United have been slightly more dominant this season out of the two teams, picking up two wins and two draws compared to Burnley, who have managed one of each.
However, there is little to split them beyond that as both teams have scored seven goals, with Leeds conceding 11 and Burnley letting in 15. Yet when the teams have met in the past, Leeds dominated, winning 34 times compared to Burnley’s 19.
However, recent history is on the side of Burnley as they picked up four points against Leeds last season in the Championship.
