Former Liverpool manager could replace Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace, says esteemed…

There’s a lot of talk about Oliver Glasner’s future at Crystal Palace. But not a lot of talk about who might eventually replace him at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of this season. And it comes at a time when the Austrian manager’s stock is extremely high.

Before the international break, Crystal Palace lost 2-1 against Everton but the Eagles still found themselves in 6th place of the Premier League table, and in the midst of an exciting European campaign this season.

Man United have been linked with Glasner who’s also been mentioned alongside Bayern Munich. It was claimed that Bayern would be Glasner’s dream job although the Palace boss later played this down.

Now, there’s talk about who could potentially replace Glasner at Selhurst Park in 2026, with talkSPORT’s Alex Crook looking towards a potential managerial merry-go-round in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers mooted as Oliver Glasner’s potential replacement

North of the border, there’s uncertainty over Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic future. Like Glasner, the former Liverpool and Swansea City boss is also out of contract next summer and it’s been suggested that he’ll look for a new challenge, potentially in England.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook then suggested that Glasner, Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth and Marco Silva at Fulham could all be poached by so-called bigger clubs next summer, and that all three clubs could look at Rodgers as a potential replacement.

Crook said: “Oliver Glasner at Palace. He’s coming to the end of his contract. Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola’s very sought after by some top clubs. You would think all of those trio would be interested in a manager with the CV of Brendan Rodgers.”

Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League record vs recent Crystal Palace managers

Steve Parish has hired some successful, and some not-so-successful managers in recent seasons. Glasner though is the most successful of the last 10 years with the highest win rate of any manager since 2015 (46.6%) and an FA Cup to his name too.

The least successful permanent Eagles manager of the last 10 years was Frank De Boer with a 20% win rate, albeit in only five games as manager.

Club Games Wins Draws Losses Win %

Watford 31 13 6 12 41.94

Reading 23 6 6 11 26.09

Swansea City 96 43 20 33 44.79

Liverpool 166 83 41 42 50.00

Celtic 169 118 25 26 69.82

Leicester City 204 92 42 70 45.10

Celtic 121 82 23 16 67.77

Rodgers meanwhile has an impressive win rate of 44.6% in the Premier League. In 309 top flight games he’s won 139 of those across spells with Swansea, Liverpool and then Leicester City which was his last job in England before returning to Celtic in 2023.

He might not be every Palace fan’s first choice to replace Glasner should he leave, but he’s certainly a steady pair of hands and someone Parish may certainly consider.
