Eddie Howe provides Newcastle United injury updates ahead of Brighton fixture

Eddie Howe has provided injury updates on the likes of Joelinton and Lewis Hall ahead of Newcastle United’s game against Brighton.

The Magpies are back in Premier League action after the international break, with Newcastle United facing Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Newcastle are predicted to draw with the Seagulls, having failed to beat them away from home since February 2017.

Eddie Howe does have some fitness concerns heading into the game, with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton travelling to Asia and back to represent Brazil during the international break. The travelling will have taken its toll, and Howe has provided updates on their availability ahead of the Brighton fixture.

Eddie Howe confirms Bruno Guimaraes is fit for Newcastle United’s game against Brighton

Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Lewis Miley

With Bruno and Joelinton travelling to Asia and Lewis Miley pulling out of the England Under-21s squad, there were concerns over the Magpies’ midfield options. However, Howe appears to have put those concerns to bed.

“Everyone’s come back okay,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle.

“We were a little bit concerned over Joelinton but he seems to have come back okay and hopefully he will train today.”

Lewis Hall

Lewis Hall missed Newcastle’s win over Forest with a hamstring injury, and Howe has now provided a further update on the young left-back.

“The second scan was good news,” he said.

“There was different scales of time he could be out and it was the shorter time. We hope he will be back before the next international break. From the first scan that might not have been possible so it’s good news.”

Yoane Wissa

Newcastle United have not been able to hand Yoane Wissa his debut yet, but Howe has provided a positive update on his recovery from a knee injury.

“We have seen Yoane on the grass for the first time and his knee has reacted well to that work,” he said.

“We will step him up gradually but as for timelines nothing has changed.”

Jacob Ramsey

Jacob Ramsey is fit again, having not featured since late August with an ankle problem.

“JJ had a couple of training sessions but we didn’t want to push him too early,” he said.

“He’s had a couple more training sessions and he looks okay.”

The summer signing has not featured for the Magpies since the 0-0 draw with Leeds, but he does appear in Geordie Boot Boys‘ predicted Newcastle XI to face Brighton. It could be a huge opportunity for Ramsey, who is yet to show the Toon Army what he is truly capable of after arriving from Aston Villa for £43million.

With Lewis Hall injured, Howe is expected to stick with the same back four that helped Newcastle record back-to-back victories and clean sheets over Union Saint-Gilloise and Nottingham Forest.
