West Ham could be prepared to give up on one of their recent investments in January,

West Ham are said to be considering giving up on one of their big investments from recent years. The Hammers are in a pivotal moment after a forgettable season of last and a torrid start to this season. Both Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter struggled last season, and the latter was sacked after a hugely disappointing start to this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo is now charged with turning things around, and West Ham must tread carefully. This team got away with it in terms of relegation last season, and the Premier League rarely gives clubs second and third chances.

The newly promoted clubs were not competitive last season, but Sunderland and Leeds United look, so far, as though they will create a relegation battle this season rather than the bottom three disappearing without a trace.

Santo is going to want changes in January, although the bulk of the changes are likely to happen next summer, as is usually the case. In the short term, Santo will want to move on players he has no intention of using so that a couple can be brought in, and one of those who is axed could be Luis Guilherme.

Guilherme cost West Ham £26.1million, but he has only made 15 league appearances, and the 19-year-old has only made three of those league outings this season. The winger has found game time very hard to come by, while he is still young, West Ham clearly thought they were getting a young player who is ready to compete at this level given how much they paid.

Claret & Hugh claim a source has told them that Guilherme’s time at the club could be up and that he could be sold in January as West Ham look to get back some of what they paid. The source adds that the next few weeks will be crucial to see if there is a big change in the situation, but the winger is heading towards the exit doors at the London Stadium.

It’s added that there is interest in Brazil, but West Ham will either have to consider a big loss or a loan deal.
