Sam Allardyce has been in and around the Premier League for many years.
The former Leeds United manager may not be in charge of a club at the moment, but the fact that he’s been around for so long means that he knows the ins and outs of what needs to happen to be successful.
Arne Slot managed to become a successful Premier League coach during his first season in charge after he led Liverpool to the top of the table and won the league by 10 points.

And, while things seemed to be going well for him at the start of the 2025-26 season, he’s now lost three games on the bounce, with a couple of questions being raised by Allardyce about his summer recruitment.
Sam Allardyce thinks that Liverpool have become a bit ‘leaky’ recently
Liverpool’s defence has caused Slot way more problems than it needed to this season.
Ibrahima Konate is in some of his worst form for Liverpool ever, as Milos Kerkez hasn’t adjusted to life at Anfield.
Indeed, they do have players such as Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez to replace them, but now Giovanni Leoni is injured for the season, they’re rather short on back-ups.
And, while speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce shares what’s now “concerning” him about Liverpool.

“Liverpool’s poor start wasn’t a poor start till just recently, but what’s concerning about them is how much money’s been spent on the team,” he said.
“And it appears that the biggest player of all hasn’t been bought, and that’s Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, because they are defensively looking a little suspect.
“Liverpool have become a little leaky. Joe Gomez is a good player, but has been with Liverpool a long time, and that’s it at centre half.
“You know what I’m like defensively, I’m the Mr. Negative in the world of football when they all say, ‘Oh, listen to that boring old fart.
“He’s always talking about clean sheets and all that rubbish.’ But if you don’t get clean sheets, if you don’t have the best defence, then you don’t win the league. And that will never change.
“It’s certainly not the Liverpool of last year, which only had one signing and they won the league. This year, how many signings, five or six?”
Liverpool should have enough quality to beat Manchester United on Sunday
Liverpool’s first game after the international break is set to come against Manchester United.
Before the Reds went on a three-game losing streak, nobody would have even been thinking about them losing the game.
However, after Liverpool were beaten by Galatasaray in the Champions League, it showed that they are nowhere near as good as they were last term.

Slot will likely be hoping that the international break has given his players enough time to reset and get back to their best.
And, when players such as Alexis Mac Allister managed to bag a brace for his country over the last week or so, fans should certainly be filled with plenty of confidence.
