It would be Alexander-Arnold's first appearance against his former club since leaving for the Spanish capital in June.

Alexander-Arnold spent 21 years with Liverpool after joining the club's academy in 2004.

However, he has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since September.

Despite that, the 27-year-old could return in time to face his old side.

Alexander-Arnold injury update

Alexander-Arnold has not played since he was forced off against Marseille on September 16.

The right-back was taken off five minutes into Real Madrid's Champions League opener against the French side.

He was subsequently ruled out for six weeks, with the trip to Anfield on November 4 seven weeks away at the time.

Alexander-Arnold has provided an update on his recovery on social media this week.

He took to Instagram to share a series of snaps from the Real Madrid training ground.

The pictures showed the England international carrying out individual ball work and recovering in a hot tub.

Alongside the post, he wrote in the caption: "Back soon."

When will Alexander-Arnold return?

Alexander-Arnold is understood to have been progressing well with his recovery plan.

The trip to Liverpool had previously been targeted for his return to action.

Real Madrid currently have four more matches before they face the Premier League champions on Merseyside.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to return to action before that match, with the Spanish giants facing Valencia three days prior.

Meanwhile, it has even been speculated he could feature against Barcelona on October 26.

The defender joined Real Madrid on a six-year deal back in June ahead of the Club World Cup.

So far this term, he has made three starts for Xabi Alonso's side across LaLiga and the Champions League.

Overall, he played a total of 156 minutes before his hamstring injury against Marseille.

Alexander-Arnold's Liverpool career

As for his time at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold won nine trophies with the club.

Those include the Champions League and two Premier League titles.

Alexander-Arnold also made 354 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 23 goals and providing 92 assists.

He was left in tears following his final appearance for Liverpool in May.

Speaking to Sky Sports during their title celebrations, he admitted: "From the bottom of my heart I hope that one day the fans and supporters will recognise what I did for the team.

"There wasn't a minute that I didn't think about the team, since I was six years old."
