3 College Football Matchups to Watch This Weekend

2. No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers @ No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide

The biggest game in college football this week features an SEC matchup with some premier draft prospects. The Volunteers boast one of the best defenses in the country, with potential first-rounders like cornerback Colton Hood and edge defender Joshua Josephs. Star corner Jermod McCoy will not play in this game as he continues to recover from the torn ACL he suffered in January, and that will put a lot of pressure on Hood and the rest of the secondary, because Heisman Trophy contender Ty Simpson is quickly cementing himself as a legitimate top draft prospect. Simpson doesn't have premier physical traits, but he's an effective scrambler with a good arm, good accuracy, and an advanced understanding of the mental aspects of the game despite this being his first season as a starter. Simpson is a name that Browns fans should become familiar with, because at this point, he's likely to be one of the first three passers off the board in April, and potentially go #1 overall.

When Tennessee has the ball, wide receiver Chris Brazzell II is having a breakout season, having hauled in 32 passes for 536 yards and seven touchdowns. There's an earned stigman surrounding Volunteer WRs translating to the NFL, but Brazzell stands 6-foot-5 and packs a lot of athletic potential into his frame.

As always, the Crimson Tide have a plethora of defensive talent entering the league, including versatile safety Keon Sabb and the run-stuffing defensive tackle Tim Keenan III, who would be an excellent long-term replacement for Shelby Harris.
