Leeds United make contact for U20 World Cup star – Whites take transfer step

Lille youngster Lisandru Olmeta has caught the attention of a few clubs, including Leeds United.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover Leeds United interest in the goalkeeper when focusing on France’s run at the U20 World Cup.

Olmeta was the first-choice stopper for France U20s at the ongoing tournament in Chile. They lost the semi-final against Morocco after a penalty shootout.

The 20-year-old played every fixture in the tournament and impressed for Les Bleuets.

L’Equipe claim a few French youngsters have caught the attention of several clubs. Olmeta is in this list, and both the Whites and Parma have taken note of his performances.

It’s claimed the U20 World Cup star’s entourage has ‘already received calls’ from Leeds and the Serie A side. That’s all the report says about these two clubs.

The young goalkeeper joined the Ligue 1 side’s academy on a free transfer, after a spell at AS Monaco. Earlier that year, claims from France reported the Premier League club were particularly keen on him. They seem to have now rekindled their interest.

In June, Lille let Olmeta join SC Bastia on a season-long loan deal and he’s yet to make debut for the Ligue 2 side.
