West Ham United duo Sarah Brasero and Anouk Denton have been called up to Emma Coates’ England Under 23s squad ahead of their WU23 European Competition fixtures this month.
For the 2025/26 tournament, the Young Lionesses have been placed in Group A alongside Portugal, France, Germany, and Norway. All ten competing nations will head to Spain for a finals week in April, where the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
England open their campaign against Germany Under 23s at SportPark Johannisau in Fulda on Thursday 23 October (5:15pm BST), before taking on Portugal's Under 23s at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium on Monday 27 October (7pm GMT), with the match streamed live on England’s YouTube channel.
Brasero, who joined the Hammers in the summer from G.D. Estoril Praia, made her England Under 23s debut in December 2024 after representing her country at Under 15 and Under 19 level. The midfielder scored her first goal in Claret and Blue in the Women’s League Cup win over Charlton Athletic in September.
Meanwhile, Denton, a Young Player of the Year nominee at last season’s Women’s Football Awards, made her first Under 23s appearance in September 2023 and has since been a regular in Coates’ squad. The 22-year-old full-back has also started every Women's Super League match for West Ham this season.
