Arsenal goalkeeper Manu Zinsberger has ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament, the club have confirmed. Zinsberger did not travel to Lisbon for the Benfica match with Renee Slegers telling Arseblog News it was due to a knee injury.
Zinsberger suffered the injury in training and with Anekke Borbe struggling with illness, 17-year-old Amy Liddiard was listed on Arsenal’s UEFA B list as cover for Daphne van Domselaar.
Zinsberger has yet to appear this season with van Domselaar the firm first choice and this injury will certainly end her season. It’s a cruel blow for the Austrian goalie who joined the club from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019.
Arsenal sayArsenal say, ‘Manuela sustained the injury during a training session while preparing for our trip to face Benfica in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Our Austrian goalkeeper will undergo surgery in due course and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.’
