Jeglertz: Clinton unavailable for Newcastle tie

Andrée Jeglertz has confirmed Grace Clinton will miss Sunday's League Cup tie against Newcastle United.

Our Head Coach added that he’ll have the same squad available for selection as he did in our 2-1 win over Liverpool, meaning Rebecca Knaak and Kerolin also miss out alongside longer term absentees Lauren Hemp, Lily Murphy and Mary Fowler.

Clinton’s last appearance came in our 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Joie Stadium, but she’s been selected to represent England in the upcoming international break.

Jeglertz confirmed she wouldn’t be fit enough to face Newcastle in Sunday’s 14:00 (UK) League Cup clash, but added that the international break provides her and others with a chance to return fit and firing.

“No, they are not available,” our Head Coach confirmed when asked about Clinton and Knaak’s potential inclusion this weekend.

“It’s been good days. Of course, we want a win to create self confidence. It’s been a good week.

“It’s the same squad that was able to play last weekend. That’s a lot of players to choose between.

“Of course we would like to have the others back, but that’s how it is.”

Jeglertz also provided an update on Lauren Hemp, who is making good progress but isn’t back in full training yet.

The England winger has been absent since picking up an ankle injury in our 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Our Head Coach added: “It’s difficult to say how long it is. She’s following the rehab plan, she’s still not training with the team.

“It’s difficult to say but I hope she is back soon. It’s been already a couple of weeks.

“For English people it’s two weeks, I should probably have said a number of weeks instead.

“She’s on her way. She’s unfortunately not ready for a game yet.”
