Exclusive: How Chelsea are feeling about Moises Caicedo's future amid new agent switch

TBR Football understands that Chelsea aren’t worried over midfielder Moises Caicedo’s future after he changed agents earlier this month.

The Blues signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton two years ago for a then-record British transfer fee of £115million. Although he struggled in his first season at Chelsea, he’s since become a superb player under Enzo Maresca.

Especially over the past six months, the Ecuadorian has really shown his worth in Chelsea’s midfield, adding energy, tackles and goals to his collection to become the all-round machine that the Blues have needed for some time.

And with the Premier League star now being a vital part of the Stamford Bridge cog, doubts were raised over his future after Caicedo switched from former agent Manuel Sierra to current representative Ali Barat.

Exclusive: Chelsea not fazed by Moises Caicedo agent transfer

However, TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Chelsea are extremely happy with Caicedo – and they are eager to make it known that a change of agent is not linked to the midfielder’s future.

His performances over the past six months in both the Premier League and the Club World Cup have seen him become one of the best midfielders in the division, alongside Rodri and Declan Rice to name just two.

A wonderstrike against Liverpool earlier this month saw teammate Romeo Lavia call Caicedo a ’10/10′ footballer, and the incoming plaudits haven’t stopped there.

Cole Palmer is one player who has been shown a new contract after his rapid rise from Manchester City’s fringes to being Chelsea’s best player over the past two years, and Caicedo could follow suit with an extended run of form.

Although Caicedo will be wanting a new contract shortly, it’s not a pressing matter for either club or player.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey further stated that Chelsea make it known that their best players will be rewarded for upturns in form. He said: “They’re very happy with Moises Caicedo.

“The club are eager to make clear that his change of agent isn’t linked to his future. He’s cementing himself as one of the very best midfielders in the Premier League.

“Chelsea tend to reward players — we saw that with Cole Palmer, whose deal was done quickly after his impact.

“So it wouldn’t be a surprise if a new deal was agreed before the World Cup, but it’s not essential. He’s not agitating for one.

“Chelsea are in a good rhythm with that — players know they’ll be rewarded.”

Should Caicedo turn himself into the best central midfielder in the league, his stay at Stamford Bridge could stretch on for a long time.

Moises Caicedo almost didn’t turn out for Chelsea after Premier League bids

Chelsea were lucky to have landed the 23-year-old after a huge transfer chase to land his services.

Caicedo almost signed for Arsenal in 2023, issuing a public statement to Brighton urging them to accept the Gunners’ bid.

And just before his move to Chelsea, Caicedo was the subject of a bid from Liverpool before the Blues upped their offer.

Club legend Frank Lampard even went as far as comparing Caicedo to N’Golo Kante, a Premier League and Champions League winner with the London outfit, which is a real endorsement of his talents.

And should he even continue the form he’s shown so far this season, he’ll be a huge part of any future success if Chelsea win silverware.
