West Ham are genuine relegation contenders after a dismal start to the campaign under Graham Potter, who was eventually sacked.
Nuno Espirito Santo was brought in to salvage things, but so far, there have been no signs of significant progress under the ex-Nottingham Forest boss.

Troy Deeney hits out at Callum Wilson signing at West Ham
West Ham signed Callum Wilson on a free transfer, but he has not had the required impact so far at the London Stadium.

Troy Deeney believes that it is sad that the ex-Newcastle star has been reduced to a shadow of the player who once struck fear into Premier League defences, and fears it could be time for Wilson to call it quits.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 17 October (12:42 pm), he said: “They’ve got Callum Wilson in, I love Callum, but he is coming to the end of it.
“It’s actually sad watching him play now, his body has betrayed him.”
Wilson’s signing sums up the West Ham way recently
The ‘West Ham Way’ is a phrase that relates to a particular brand of football, and identity, that has been lost in recent years.
The recruitment off the field sums it up, the Hammers continue to waste money on dismal players, who don’t have the passion or ability to star for the East London side.
Wilson is one of those flops, it was evident last season that he did not have the legs anymore, and the Irons took a huge risk, relying on him, rather than entering the market for a striker.

He only had 18 appearances in the Premier League, with the majority coming from the bench
He scored just once, in an FA Cup tie with League One Birmingham City.
It has not paid off, and ultimately saw Potter depart from his role in miserable fashion, and he is unlikely to be the man to kick off the Nuno era in E20 either.
No wonder that the board is under huge pressure, they have constantly failed the club since the 2023 Europa Conference League win, which seems a farcry away from where they are now.
