Newcastle United have joined the race for Vasco da Gama striker Rayan, according to local insider outletNT Vascaínos. The Magpies are seriously considering a move for the 19-year-old. Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has personally expressed his wish to bring the forward to St James’ Park.
Al-Rumayyan reportedly told a well-connected Brazilian agent that he sees huge potential in Rayan. He is now studying the possibility of making an official offer for the youngster.
The new interest comes after a very active summer. Newcastle sold Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a record £125m. They also signed Yoane Wissa from Brentford for £55m and Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £65m.
Even after those major moves, Al-Rumayyan still wants another forward. He sees Rayan as a long-term investment and one of the top young attackers in South America.
Tottenham and Aston Villa also asking questions
Rayan has scored 14 goals in 2025 and continues to impress under Fernando Diniz. His form has caught the attention of more than one Premier League club.
Tottenham have contacted Carlo Ancelotti’s staff to ask whether Rayan could soon be called up by Brazil’s senior team – Spurs appears to be frontrunners in this chase according to the Brazilian press. Aston Villa have also been linked a few times as an interested party.
Vasco’s position on the transfer
Vasco value Rayan at around €30m, even though his release clause is €40m. The Rio side, currently fighting for stability in the Brasileirão, are reluctant to sell their top scorer before the end of the year.
With Newcastle United now entering the picture alongside Tottenham and Aston Villa, the competition for Rayan is heating up fast. His strong form gives Premier League clubs more reasons to act, and Vasco more reasons to hold firm.
