Chelsea International Round-up - October

The October international break saw a total of ten Chelsea players on duty for their respective nations. Many stayed behind in London this time around to recover from a busy September period that saw a lot of injuries.

Key players that remained in England include Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo, the latter serving his suspension that he picked up during the September international break.

Here is how Chelsea's ten players on international duty fared for their nation:

Brazil - Estêvão

The youngster was the only of Chelsea's Brazilians to receive the call-up in the October internationals, as Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos, in the squad last time out, continue to work their way back to full fitness.

But for the one that did represent the South American nation, it was a very positive international break, with the highlight undoubtedly being the 5-0 win over South Korea.

The 18-year-old played 70 minutes of this victory, opening the scoring for his country in the 13th minute of proceedings, firing an effort home after being found in the box by Bruno Guimares.

He made it a brace just two minutes after the restart, dispossessing his man before finding the bottom left corner - some performance from the youngster.

The second game of the break was less memorable for Estêvão as Brazil suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Japan. The forward would only feature for fifteen minutes in this one, unable to threaten the goal in his time on the pitch.

Nevertheless, it was a good Brazil camp by Chelsea's hero against Liverpool, who continues to build his experience playing on an international stage.

The full-back featured for the full 90 minutes in France's World Cup qualifying match against Azerbaijan, but did not play in the 2-2 draw against Iceland.

The game he did play a part in ended in favour of his nation as they emerged as convincing 3-0 winners.

It was a good outing for Gusto, who looked very positive on the right side of the French defence, hence why Didier Deschamps kept him on for the entirety of the match.

The 22-year-old will be looking to translate this performance into club displays upon his return to Premier League football.

In a similar fashion to Gusto, the Spaniard played the entire 90 minutes in the win against Georgia before being rested in his nation's 4-0 win over Bulgaria.

As he so often does, the full-back put in a high-quality performance in Spain's game against Georgia in which they won 2-0.

It was a relatively easy night for the Spanish defence, who were not worked hard at all by their opponents, who failed to fire a shot on target over the whole 90 minutes.

Chelsea will have undoubtedly been glad to see Cucurella rested against Bulgaria, as the Spaniard very often gets a break internationally or domestically.

Fernandez featured for 78 minutes of Argentina's 1-0 victory over Venezuela, in which he put in a good display for the current World Champions.

But the midfielder's international break was brought to an abrupt end after he made the decision to withdraw from the national team, suffering from inflammation in his right knee.

This saw Fernandez miss out on Argentina's match against Puerto Rico - a game where his nation cruised to a comfortable 6-0 victory.

The winger was one of the few Chelsea players who featured in both games for their nation in this international break.

He played around 61 minutes in Portugal's 1-0 victory over Ireland, won in the dying embers by Ruben Neves after Neto had been replaced. Despite not contributing to the winning goal, Neto looked threatening on many occasions.

He once again played just over the hour mark in a 2-2 draw with Hungary later in the week. He did not pick up any goal involvements in this one, but once more looked difficult to contain.

It was not an eventful international break for Jorgensen, who did not get the chance to feature. He made the Danish bench for their victories over Belarus and Greece, but remains behind Kasper Schmeichel - Denmark's current number one.

It was a good international break for the trio. Josh Acheampong played 78 minutes against Moldova, in which he looked impressive, but did not feature against Andorra on Monday night.

Tyrique George featured in both games, Moldova as a substitute and Andorra as a starter. He was the difference maker in the latter, scoring the only goal to ensure England's perfect record in qualifying was maintained.

Jamie Gittens started on both occasions, also making his mark by finding the back of the net against Moldova, placing the ball perfectly into the bottom left corner.

Like Jorgensen, Guiu did not get the chance to showcase himself on international duty, named on the bench for their 4-1 win over Norway.

The striker did not make the squad for the game against Finland.
