Manchester City vs Everton: Premier League Preview, Gameweek 8, 2025

Manchester City could go top of the Premier League tomorrow with victory over Everton. David Moyes's side haven't won at the Etihad Stadium since 2010.

Pep Guardiola's side currently sit in fifth place, just three points behind league leaders Arsenal, meanwhile Everton are eighth following their late win over Crystal Palace last time out.

City have reacted well to there early blip, where they lost to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion as they've beaten neighbours Manchester United, dispatched Burnley by five and won away at Brentford.

City were close to securing three points away at the Emirates but a late strike from Gabriel Martinelli settled the game as honours even.

Erling Haaland has started the season as expected with the Norwegian scoring a staggering 12 goals in nine games, nine in the Premier League.

Everton will hope to continue their positive start from the season but have only beaten Pep Guardiola once since the Spaniard joined the league in 2016, which subsequently was the Toffees last win over City.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he doesn't know when Spanish midfielder Rodri will be back. The 2024 Ballon D'or winner suffered an hamstring injury in the clubs win over Brentford.

Meanwhile forward Omar Marmoush and defender Rayan Ait Nouri are close to being back for City.

Midfielder Mateo Kovavic hasn't featured for Guardiola's side yet this season is also in contention, following Kovavic's impact for Croatia over the international break.

Everton

The Blues will be without loanee Jack Grealish this weekend. Grealish who won Premier League Player of the Month has been a key figure since joining from City and this will force David Moyes to shuffle up his starting 11.

Jarrad Brathwaite has returned to training and could feature. The 23-year-old hasn't featured yet for the Blues as the defender has been nursing an hamstring injury .

Transfer Deadline Day signing Merlin Rohl who's only feature for Everton so far this season came against Aston Villa is also back in training.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is back for Everton following a suspension, having picked up a yellow card against West Ham United, he missed out against Crystal Palace.

Key Players

**Manchester City**- Erling Haaland

The 25-year-old has started the season at his usual high standards scoring nine goals in seven Premier League Games.

Everton will need to vary of the runs he makes and the moment off the ball as Haaland will look to keep the Everton defence occupied.

Jeremy Doku has started the season brightly for City, scoring once and assisting three.

**Everton**- Jordan Pickford

Fresh from signing a new contract which will continue his stay with the Blues until 2029, Everton will need Jordan Pickford on his 'A' game if they want to get something out of the game.

Recently breaking the record of nine consecutive clean sheets in a row for England, Everton's shot stopper will expect a busy afternoon as Everton will hope to record an unlikely victory.

Iliman Ndiaye will be the biggest threat and will more likely be deployed in his more natural position off the left as the 25-year-old will hope to score at the Etihad as he did last season.
