Chelsea chasing former Barcelona forward

The Premier League is back on Saturday with Chelsea travelling to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have endured a mixed campaign so far, but head coach Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side build on their surprise 2-1 victory against reigning Premier League champions Liverpool last time out.

Forest, meanwhile, are winless in seven matches since Ange Postecoglou took charge of the club, and sections of the crowd at The City Ground have voiced their frustration at the Australian in recent weeks.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, it has emerged that Chelsea are interested in a former Barcelona star.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes via CaughtOffside, the Blues are showing interest in ex-Barcelona striker Vitor Roque.

It is claimed that the West London outfit have become aware of Roque’s recent good performances for current side Palmeiras, and are therefore keeping tabs on the player.

Roque, 20, joined Palmeiras from Barcelona earlier this year, having previously spent time with a number of Brazilian sides as a youngster.

He has since scored 16 goals in 45 games for the Brazilian side across all competitions, as well as registering four assists.

The report claims that Chelsea are contemplating making a move to sign the young forward, who primarily plays as a central striker.

He is under contract until the end of 2029, however, and Palmeiras are therefore in a commanding position and aren’t likely to have to sell the player any time soon.

Chelsea’s London rivals, West Ham United, are also said to be interested in the young Brazilian, who made his senior international debut for his country back in 2023 but hasn’t been capped since.

Roque played just 16 times for Barcelona during his time with the club, but also made more than 30 appearances during a spell with fellow Spanish side Real Betis.
