Bradley Barcola was linked with a potential Liverpool move throughout the summer transfer window.
After Luis Diaz was sold to Bayern Munich, several wingers popped up as potential targets for Arne Slot.
In the end, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike were the ones who ended up making the switch to Anfield, with both being able to play on the left if needed.

However, at the moment, Cody Gakpo has been chosen to be Liverpool’s left-winger, but with his form not being up to scratch, that could soon change.

With this in mind, Liverpool’s left wing could end up being their Achilles heel this season, but after the recent reports that have emerged about Barcola, the Reds’ fans may not need to worry for much longer.
Bradley Barcola still hasn’t signed a contract extension at PSG amid Liverpool’s and Bayern Munich’s interest
The 2025-26 season was the best of Barcola’s career, with the Frenchman helping PSG win their first-ever Champions League.
Last season, Barcola played 64 games across all competitions while contributing to 42 goals.
Most of his appearances came from the wing, but there was the odd occasion when he was used as a striker by Luis Enrique.

With this sort of goal-scoring prowess and versatility, it’s hardly surprising to see Liverpool interested in signing Barcola.
And now, as per a report from L’Equipe, that could soon become a reality.
The report from the French outlets starts by saying that in the summer, Barcola was ‘courted’ by Bayern and Liverpool.
L’Equipe also suggest that the attacker ‘exploded’ onto the scene for PSG last year, with the Frenchman managing to stand out among some world-class players.
Although ‘discussions’ between Barcola and PSG began ‘several months ago’, talks are ‘dragging on’, which could leave the door ajar for Liverpool to make a move in the near future.
Bradley Barcola could take Liverpool’s attack to another level
Liverpool may have spent over £250 million on new attackers already this summer, but it’s clear they’re still one or two short.
As mentioned, Liverpool’s left wing could end up being a problem for Slot this season, that is, especially if Gakpo can’t perform at the same level for Liverpool as he does for the Netherlands.
Indeed, Rio Ngumoha has been called up by Slot once or twice, but at 17 years old, it feels unfair to rely on the youngster to be a reliable backup.
If Barcola were to join from PSG, he’d likely fit straight into Liverpool’s starting XI and make their attack even better than it already is.

This would also mean that Slot would have two senior players for every position who are all at a more than solid standard.
A transfer of this calibre would be a massive statement of intent from Liverpool and would show that they really do mean business.
