LeBron James is officially a billionaire off the court. The King has built his fortune through multiple business ventures, in which he partners with his longtime friend, Maverick Carter. Recently, the duo has been linked with the creation of a rival league to the NBA in Europe.
Carter, it seems, has been involved with multiple projects along those lines. One of them is called Project B, a potential global circuit basketball league that had backing from the Saudi Arabian sovereign fund. Now, Brian Windhorst has reported that the businessman is no longer involved as the project has moved on to a different agenda.

Multiple player agents, current and former league executives, and support staffers told ESPN they’d been recruited to join the league ahead of a possible 2026 launch and, in some cases, were required to sign NDAs,” Windhorst wrote for ESPN. “At times, this recruitment involved superstar LeBron James’ longtime business partner, Maverick Carter, who worked as an adviser to the league for months.

“Last week, Carter confirmed to ESPN he had left the venture, which calls itself Project B, and its representatives said in media interviews it is now focusing on starting a women’s basketball league to rival the WNBA.”

As the NBA tries to grow its influence globally, it seems that there are many players in the market. Even though Carter has dropped out of this project, he and James are working to find a way to get ownership in a team or create a league of their own. There is a lot of fire behind all this smoke.
