Troy Deeney backs Newcastle United to kick on with plenty of goals from 23-year-old striker

Newcastle United have had a bizarre start to the new campaign and are still awaiting their first goal on the road in the Premier League.

The Magpies have played three games away from home in the Premier League, and each one has finished 0-0, which is a record they'll be hoping to break tomorrow when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex.

Their last away game was in Belgium, where they beat Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 in the Champions League, so we know that they can score on the road.

One man they'll be looking to for goals is 6'6" German forward Nick Woltemade, who has been Newcastle's main source of goals so far this season.

Troy Deeney expects Nick Woltemade to bag plenty of goals for Newcastle

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Troy Deeney has likened the 23-year-old to Peter Crouch in that people questioned why he would get called up for England, but he always came up with goals.

However, despite these doubts from elsewhere, Deeney backs Woltemade to get lots of goals for Newcastle and thinks everything is now in place for the Magpies to kick on.

"I think he's [Woltemade] suited perfectly for the English game. I think the way that Newcastle play, especially with Eddie [Howe] and the team, the way they coach, I think he's going to score a lot of goals, I really do.

"I said it just before the international break, Newcastle are set up now for me to really kick on between now and the next international break."

Agreeing with Troy Deeney is a weird feeling

It's not often we find ourselves in agreement with Troy Deeney. He's another one of those pundits who perpetuates that lazy myth of players preferring a move to London, but we have to give credit where it's due.

Nick Woltemade has surprised a lot of people since his big-money move from Stuttgart, and as bitter as Bayern Munich have been, calling us idiots for paying what we did, we're sure even they will have to admit he's looking worth every penny now.

Woltemade could do with a goal on the road in the Premier League, and tomorrow is the perfect opportunity to get one.
