Back in 2020, Albion's quest for a return to the Premier League under Slaven Bilic was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Albion were sailing towards the top flight when the pandemic hit - but when football did finally return, Bilic's side looked a shadow of what they had been.
In the end, despite almost throwing away their automatic promotion chances on the penultimate game of the season, they managed to crawl over the line thanks to a 2-2 home draw with QPR.
Other results went their way and a return to the big time was secured.
It was a strange and memorable occasion for the players involved that evening - and Kyle Bartley has recalled how a member of the QPR side could have ended up at Albion for the following season.
Eberechi Eze was one of QPR's standout players at the time - and scored to put the visitors in front that evening before Callum Robinson's late equaliser.
That summer Eze would secure a £17m move to Crystal Palace - and this year moved to Arsenal for £67.5m.
But former Albion skipper Kyle Bartley has revealed that it could have been very different for Eze - and recalled something the high flying winger said after Albion had secured promotion.
Speaking at the Ladbrokes at the launch of Ladisfaction, Bartley said: "I had some great memories working with Slav, though; he’s up there for me as one of the best three managers I ever worked with, to be honest.
"The standout moment has to be winning promotion in 2020. It was obviously really difficult because of what was going on in the world, it meant we weren’t able to celebrate properly with the fans, and with our friends and family, so that took some of the gloss off the occasion, but it was still an incredible achievement.
"It's funny, Eberechi Eze played for QPR and scored on that night, and after the game, I remember me and Slav actually spoke to him and were trying to get him to sign for us that summer. He said yeah, that he would do, and obviously it never happened for us in the end, which was unfortunate because he would have been incredible in that team."
