David Moyes’ Everton seek an ambitious victory on Saturday evening after the international break has come to an end.

Everton play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on 18 October and will be looking to improve on a positive start to the season.

Everton will be without Jack Grealish, however, as the forward is ineligible to face his parent club, but a golden opportunity now presents itself for Carlos Alcaraz.

The Toffees do have injury problems heading into Saturday’s clash, and an Everton win would be a major upset.

Everton have had striker struggles of late despite winning games of football, with Beto coming under fire. However, Moyes has revealed that the Blues still feel like he’s an important player.

David Moyes can ‘only praise’ Beto’s commitment to Everton

Beto should have more goals for Everton this season, but it’s not just his performance in front of goal that has let fans down.

Evertonians have stuck by Beto up till now, but his all-around performances have resulted in Moyes dropping the forward in recent games.

Journalist Ian Croll has reported Moyes‘ comments on the Everton striker and why he still backs him.

“Every Evertonian has seen as much as I’ve seen. Of course we’re working everyday with him. The boy is mad to do the work,” said Moyes.

“He is a brilliant, brilliant lad. His work and dedication to improve himself is second to none. You can only praise him for that.”

Moyes added, “Maybe the way we’re playing we’ve had more of the ball, we’re playing different, which has meant he’s not had as much room to run into. It doesn’t take away we want him to score goals.”

Beto hasn’t been short of scoring chances this campaign, and maybe all he needs is another goal or two for some added confidence.

Beto showed promise under Moyes last season

While Moyes rejoined Everton midway through last campaign, it was only when he arrived that Beto did too.

Beto had an extremely prolific purple patch for the Blues in February, where he scored five goals in five Premier League games, including a goal in the Merseyside Derby.

During that opening period under Moyes, Beto showed his full potential, but has since struggled to emulate the same success in front of goal.

If anyone can get the best out of Beto, then it’s Moyes, as the striker has until January at the very earliest to prove a point.
