The League Two side announced the signing on Friday and added the 34-year-old has been training with the first team for the past month.
They said in a statement: “Salford City is pleased to announce the signing of Fabio Borini on a short term deal!
“The Italian striker has been training with the men’s first team for fitness over the past month, and is available for the weekend.”
Who is Fabio Borini?
Borini had most recently been playing for traditional Italian side Sampdoria in Serie B but was let go at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The one-time Italy international made his professional debut with Chelsea in 2009 and was projected to have a solid career after starring on loan with Swansea in 2011.
However, stints back in Italy with Parma and Roma didn’t quite work out, and when Liverpool brought him back to the Premier League in 2012 he also didn’t find a fit.
Yet Borini still went on to impress on loan with Sunderland, finding some of his best form and signing permanently to become a regular at the Stadium of Light.
Heading back to Italy with AC Milan in 2017 he continued to be a regular with the European giants and kept going in further stints with Hellas Verona and Fatih Karagumruk before two seasons with Sampdoria.
Even at the age of 34 the Italian can still be seen as somewhat of a coup for the team owned by Manchester United legends David Beckham and Gary Neville.
Salford have been trying to find their way out of the fourth tier for the last six seasons, and are currently in the play-off picture again, sitting ninth under Karl Robinson.

What's Borini been up to?
Borini's last stint at Sampdoria was certainly a dramatic one.
The 1991 Italian champions and Serie A regulars were relegated in 2023 and almost found themselves straight down in the third tier.
Samp finished 18th in Serie B in the 2024/25 season and therefore in the automatic relegation zone.
However, despite their tragic decline being confirmed, they were given an astonishing and unexpected lifeline as Brescia were handed a points deduction.
That moved Samp up and out of the automatic relegation zone, but only into a relegation play-off place.
However, there they beat a Salernitana said that were so angry to be 4-0 down on aggregate after two legs that fans bombarded the pitch with smoke bombs.
