Injuries continue to pile up on the Indianapolis Colts’ secondary. Charvarius Ward will miss his second straight game after suffering a concussion during pre-game warm-ups last week, while Mike Hilton was placed on injured reserve in Week 6 with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Jaylon Jones will not be activated this week as he continues to battle a nagging hamstring injury.

While the Colts’ cornerback room is banged up, a key playmaker is inching closer to a return.

As previously discussed on Gridirion Heroics,Kenny Moore II suffered a concerning Achilles injury in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. As a result, the injury has sidelined the elite slot cornerback for the past three weeks. The defense had to rely on Mike Hilton in Weeks 4 and 5 and Chris Lammons in Week 6 to carry the workload in the slot.

Kenny Moore II participated in a limited capacity during this week’s practice, a promising sign regarding his availability for Sunday. According to Joel A. Erickson of *The Indy Star,*the Pro Bowl defensive back is ready to go for Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore’s presence should provide an immediate spark for the banged-up Colts’ secondary.

Colts are ruling out Josh Downs (concussion), Ashton Dulin (chest) and Charvarius Ward (concussion)

Kenny Moore II will have his hands full against Chargers’ star receiver Ladd McConkey, who has played 62.8% of snaps in the slot on passing downs. He is having a slow start to the year, but he had his best game of the season last Sunday against the Dolphins. McConkey hauled in a season-high seven receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown on nine targets.
