The Chicago Bears are fresh off a thrilling 25-24 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 6.
Now, the team turns its attention toward at Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, hoping to notch their fourth consecutive win after an 0-2 start to the 2025 NFL season.
Running back D’Andre Swift was crucial in the Bears’ Week 6 win, leading the team in both rushing and receiving. The veteran ball-carrier finished the game with 108 rushing yards, 67 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.
Swift was not featured on the Bears’ estimated injury report on Wednesday, but suddenly appeared as limited with a groin injury on Thursday.
While this sudden addition is concerning, head coach Ben Johnson is hopeful his starting running back will be able to play on Sunday.
“#Bears RB D’Andre Swift, who was not on the estimated injury report Wednesday, popped up as limited on Thursday with a groin issue. Ben Johnson said he was not injured in practice on Thursday and added he’s hopeful Swift will play Sunday. Final injury report this afternoon,” team insider Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune reported.
“Oh, he was huge. I mean, this is the best, the most efficient we’ve ran the ball all year,” Johnson said of Swift’s Week 6 performance. “Really felt an attitude with him. He did a great job finding a little crease and stepping on the gas as we talked about, played a physical style. Not only that, I mean the catch 55-yard touchdown was really a game-changer for us.
Through the first five games of the 2025 season, Swift has 295 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The sixth-year NFL running back also has 15 catches for 152 yards and a receiving score.
The Bears’ Week 7 injury report features four more players with questionable designations: kicker Cairo Santos (thigh), wide receiver DJ Moore (hip/groin), linebacker Noah Sewell (concussion) and defensive end Grady Jarrett (knee).
