Micah Parsons has made a significant impact on the Packers‘ defense, even if he hasn’t been consistently filling up the stat sheet.
With 2.5 sacks through the Packers’ first five seasons, Parsons has been generating consistent pressure on the quarterback while also creating major opportunities for the likes of Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness swarming into the backfield.
As Parsons continues to get healthier from a back injury, and perhaps gets some more favorable calls from officials, he has the chance to be more prolific on the stat sheet and more than just a catalyst for the players around him.

With a five game sample, though, there is already a pretty ironic metric that shows the Dallas Cowboys’ decision to trade Parsons in the first place has blown up on Jerry Jones.
“One of the reasons Jerry Jones used to justify trading Parsons for Clark and two first-round picks was in order to bolster Dallas’ run defense,” Garrett Podell writes for CBS. “Green Bay has the NFL’s No. 1 run defense with Parsons on their defensive line. The Packers would do the trade for the 26-year-old Parsons and his subsequent extension 10 times out of 10.”
Turns out, Parsons might not be as vulnerable against the run as some, including Jones, may have suggested.
The Cowboys, so far ranked 28th against the run, while surrendering 142.1 rushing yards per game, which could be giving Jones some seller’s remorse about the deal.
Meanwhile, only three edge rushers have more pressures than Parsons’ 29, or more hurries than his 20, while making an impact on the running game on his way to rushing the passer.
