Chicago Bears stat pack Week 7: A losing streak to New Orleans

LAKE FOREST, Ill., — The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints get set to do battle in Week 7 at Soldier Field on Sunday in what is a big game for the home team. The Bears are looking for a four-game win streak, which would be their longest since the 2018 season. While the Saints are 1-5 going into this game, New Orleans has had the advantage in this matchup, winning eight straight matchups in the series.

The last win for the Bears came on December 11th, 2008 with Lovie Smith as the head coach still.

That game took place on a cold Thursday night in December with both teams still in the playoff hunt. For the Saints, they struggled on the road that year with just one win going into that game. Meanwhile, Chicago was 4-2 at home and looking to stay over .500.

Danieal Manning got the scoring started on the opening kickoff with an 83-yard return. The Saints tied it before the Bears rallied off 14-unanswered points for a 21-7 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Saints went on a 17-point run of their own to grab a 24-21 lead. But Robbie Gould's field goal with with two seconds left sent the game into overtime where he once again connected on a field goal for the win.

Since that game, the Bears have really struggled with the Saints. That includes a playoff loss in New Orleans for the 2020 season as well as going 0-4 at home since then. While New Orleans is only 1-5 to start the year, this can't be a let-down spot for the Bears. They have the chance to get to four-straight wins before the schedule gets tougher and they need to take advantage of a game like this.
