Former Kansas Jayhawks basketball guard Zeke Mayo has signed an NBA contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agency, ADS Sports Management, reported Friday on Instagram.
Mayo, a graduate of Lawrence High who played at KU during the 2024-25 season, had initially signed a one-year deal with Ironi Kiryat-Ata of the Israel professional league.
Details of his arrangement with the Cavs were not immediately available Friday. Mayo shared his agency’s post to his own Instagram account.
“Coming off a very successful senior year at Kansas, Zeke Mayo has signed with the Cavs,” the ADS Sports Management post reads. “Just the beginning for Zeke, who will surely keep turning heads and proving the doubters wrong. Congrats Zeke,”ADS Sports Management added.
Cleveland two days ago cut former KU and Iowa State wing Tristan Enaruna, plus Killian Hayes and Norchad Omier.
Mayo played three seasons of college basketball at South Dakota State and one at KU. The combo guard averaged 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Jayhawks in 2024-25.
Mayo played sparingly for the Washington Wizards’ summer league team in July in Las Vegas.
