Carson Beck had the Miami Hurricanes rolling to begin the 2025 season. As a star offseason addition, he opted to head to South Beach over the NFL in the offseason -- however, Beck's solid start to 2025 came to a screeching halt on Friday night.
No. 2 Miami fell to unranked Louisville, 24-21, marking the Hurricanes' first loss of the year. Despite three ranked victories in its first five games, Miami didn't have many answers against the Cardinals; Miller Moss made some noise, leading his offense against one of the country's top defenses.
Meanwhile, Beck struggled with turnovers against Louisville. For the first time in his collegiate career, including his time with the Georgia Bulldogs, he threw four interceptions in a game.

On a night where the Miami run game couldn't get much going, running for 63 yards on 2.6 per carry, Beck failed to throw a touchdown pass. The Hurricanes were trailing from the start, and their offense couldn't get them back in it in the second half.
Perhaps more importantly, Beck threw two interceptions in the first half, then two more significant picks in the fourth quarter. It was the first time in his five-year college career that he threw four interceptions in a game.
With Miami trailing 14-7 in the second quarter, Beck went deep β but Louisville's Antonio Watts made a terrific play, picking off the long pass.

Just one drive later for Miami, Beck turned it over again. He was trying to go for another big play, but Jabari Mack gave the Cardinals possession instead.

However, the two most consequential of Beck's interceptions came in the final quarter. While Miami wasn't quite yet out of it, the Hurricanes got to a 4th & 4 in the middle of the frame; they decided to go for it, even after Beck initially appeared to throw an interception before a call changed that.
Still, Beck found a Louisville player instead of his receiver. Miami would have turned it over on downs anyway, but it went in the books as the quarterback's third pick β the Cardinals took over, although they fumbled on their following possession.

Beck's final interception sealed the game. Miami had a chance to tie or take the lead with time ticking down in a 24-21 game, but T.J. Capers secured the final Beck pick of the evening as Louisville began celebrating.

While his ACC counterpart struggled, former USC quarterback Miller Moss put forth a strong performance for the Cardinals on Friday night. As Louisville improved to 5-1, Moss, a fifth-year passer, had his third-straight game with at least three total touchdowns.
Moss helped Louisville build its first-half lead alongside running back Isaac Brown (113 yards). Louisville's first drive of the game resulted in a rushing score for Moss, as the team first converted a fake field-goal attempt, then converted a "Tush Push" play for the touchdown.

Moss later found Chris Bell in-stride, and Bell finished the play for a 35-yard touchdown that made it 14-0 Louisville.

As the Cardinals tried to protect their advantage, Moss then threw his second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. It came on a simple pass to Bell once again, as he danced through the Hurricanes defense, evading tackles to find the end zone.
Bell finished with 136 yards and two touchdowns.

After transferring from USC last offseason, Moss now has Jeff Brohm's squad building some momentum in the ACC, taking down the country's second-ranked squad on Friday night.
