An important January window is quickly beginning to loom large for Nottingham Forest.
A busy summer, when 13 new signings put pen to paper, doesn't seem all that long ago. But time goes fast in the world of transfers and it will not be long before the whole business begins again.
Forest shouldn't need to do too much work when the window reopens, although injuries and form can impact any best-laid plans. Equally, the club's position in the Premier League table might come into consideration as they work to move up the rankings.
The transfer rumour mill hasn’t stopped since the summer. Below, NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the latest Reds news and gossip.
Defender’s decision
Back in the summer, Forest were linked with Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis. Full-back was an area the Reds needed to strengthen, and the 25-year-old was reportedly a potential target.
However, Davis remained with the Tractor Boys and now he has had his say on the rumoured interest. He insists his focus was always on a promotion push with Ipswich as they aim to bounce back following last season’s relegation from the Premier League.
“That’s not up to me off the pitch,” he told TWTD. “I was focused on everything I could be to get this club back up to the Premier League.
“I had all eyes on being here this year, doing everything I can to push everyone at the club to get back where the club belongs. That’s all my focus was all summer. I had the rest time and summer to switch off and then when I came back in, all my focus was on trying to get the club back up and keep pushing as a player.”
Talented teen
Forest appear to have snapped up a very bright talent in the form of 16-year-old Gabriel Schluter. The winger signed for the Reds’ academy set-up from Blackpool earlier this week.
Schluter spent two years with the Seasiders and became the youngest player to make a senior appearance for the club when he featured against Liverpool Under-21s in the EFL Trophy aged 15 years, nine months and 27 days. Blackpool interim coach Stephen Dobbie was sorry to see him move on.
“He made his debut last year in this comp (the EFL Trophy), and from what I remember he pulled the ball out of the air and it was about 40 yards up,” he told the Blackpool Gazette. “The kid has great talent.
“He’s obviously wanted to move on. I don’t know what’s happened behind the scenes package-wise, but good luck to him because he’s a nice lad. You always want to keep hold of your better players, but you know there’s always teams sniffing around.”

Dennis dilemma
At one stage this week, it appeared a return to Watford was on the cards for former Forest attacker Emmanuel Dennis. The 27-year-old is a free agent after his Reds contract was terminated by mutual consent in the summer and reports suggested a third stint at Vicarage Road was a possibility.
Dennis was said to have held talks with Watford and had undergone medical and fitness tests. However, there has since been a twist to the tale.
According to Sky Sports, the Hornets have decided against signing the Nigerian. It is said the situation could be revisited in January and Dennis may train with the club in the meantime.
On the move?
Not so long ago, barely a transfer window went by without Forest being interested in Michy Batshuayi. Indeed, they came close to signing him in the summer of 2022, only for the move to collapse amid suggestions Chelsea failed to send the relevant paperwork in time.
The striker is now with Eintracht Frankfurt, but he could be on the move again soon. According to Sky Sports (via One Football), a departure from the German outfit in January - or next summer, at the latest - is ‘very likely’. A lack of game time is said to be behind a potential transfer.

It is said if Batshuayi formally asks to leave, his club will not stand in his way. He is under contract until 2027.
