The summer 2026 transfer window is being seen as the ‘last opportunity’ for Newcastle United to make money on Sandro Tonali.
[Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/liste/il-newcastle-prova-a-blindare-tonali-cosa-filtra-in-vista-di-gennaio-e-giugno-le-chance-di-juventus-e-milan/blt333a1db26b019b62#csb5c227b4b8026a30) cover the midfielder once again. His recent comments have created transfer hope in Italy, and it’s continuing to build.
They cover comments from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe today. He made it clear Tonali is still considered a key player at St James Park. In fact, according to him, incoming director of football Ross Wilson intends to address his contract situation upon his arrival at the club.
Tonali’s current deal expires in 2027, so Newcastle have a decision to make over the midfielder’s future. According to Calciomercato, next summer is the ‘last opportunity’ for them to make money with a sale if Tonali doesn’t sign a new deal.
The fact his contract is expiring is creating lots of hope for the likes of AC Milan and Juventus. They’re both dreaming of getting him back to Serie A at some point. Tonali has offered them encouragement too.
He recently admitted that he’d be more than willing to return to Italy and Serie A. He made it clear that the door was never closed to such a move.
That’s been followed by various reports, which have made it clear Tonali remains in love with Milan. That’s despite his time at Newcastle so far and an acknowledgment he loves the club. They also want it know Milan only sold him because of finances and nothing else.
His comments have given everyone in Italy hope and we’d expect plenty more stories like this, even if Calciomercato and others insist a January transfer won’t even be thought about at Newcastle anyway.
