Jordan Pickford says he played with someone at Everton he loves just as much as Seamus Coleman

Jordan Pickford has recently signed a new deal at Everton, and he has revealed a surprising best friend he had at the club.

The goalkeeper has come across many players over his time on Merseyside, with the Englishman in his ninth season for the Toffees, and he has no doubt built some good relationships over the years for both club and country.

When it comes to his friends in football, John Stones has said Pickford is one of his best mates, with the Everton man relaying the same feelings.

While the pair did not play together at Everton, they have seemingly built a close friendship while on international duty.

However, there is another former Blues defender whom Jordan Pickford has played with at club level that is one of the best mates.

Jordan Pickford names Mason Holgate as one of his best friends at Everton

Jordan Pickford has said that Seamus Coleman is currently his best friend at the Toffees, but when it comes to former players he has played alongside, there was only one player he wanted to name.

The goalkeeper has said Mason Holgate was one of his best mates at Everton.

Mason Holgate spent nine seasons at Everton and most recently left upon expiry of his contract. He was already at the club in 2017 when Pickford was signed, and it seems the pair built quite a good relationship.

The defender spent the last two seasons out on loan and has not been a regular player for the Blues since 2021/2022.

While Pickford would have been sad to see one of his best friends leave, it did make sense for all involved to not renew Holgate’s deal.

Mason Holgate has played more minutes with Jordan Pickford than anyone else

Jordan Pickford and Mason Holgate built a strong relationship on the pitch just as they did off of it.

Holgate has played more minutes with Jordan Pickford than any other player across his whole career.

Meanwhile, the defender is the goalkeeper’s 11th most played-with teammate.

The duo featured on the pitch at the same time in 117 different matches, totalling 9,240 minutes for both club and country.
