Marcus Rashford's Barcelona career takes fresh twist amid X-rated Lamine Yamal response

Barcelona have been accused of 'double standards' in their treatment of Marcus Rashford and other players amid claims Lamine Yamal started despite a disciplinary matter.

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has batted away rumours that Marcus Rashford had been treated differently from Lamine Yamal regarding disciplinary issues.

Reports in Spain in the week had stated that the Barca hierarchy had forced Flick to start Yamal in the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, despite him arriving late for a team meeting.

In September, Rashford had been dropped to the bench for the La Liga game against Getafe for the same offence. It's claimed that Yamal's treatment has been branded as "double standards."

However, Flick has quickly rebuffed the claims and insisted he's in complete control of disciplinary matters. "I'd like to know where you're getting that rumour from," he said.

"It's b*******. It's not true. At this club, with Deco and the rest of the professionals, I have a real relationship.

"I believe in my work. I have their trust, and they wouldn't ask us for it. It's rubbish. Whoever said it lied."

Rashford has hit the ground running in Spain since securing his season-long loan move from Manchester United. The England international has scored three goals and produced an additional five assists in his first 10 games, and not to mention reclaiming his spot with the Three Lions.

After being late to the team meeting last month, the 27-year-old was criticised by the Spanish press, but Deco insisted the club were "happy" with his start to life in Barcelona.

"He's on a simple loan, there's no penalty, and if we want him, we have an option to buy," the ex-Barca playmaker told Mundo Deportivo. "It's too early to talk about decisions for next season, but what matters is that we're happy with him. What we thought he could bring to us, he's bringing.

"He's a very high-level player - who exploded very early - then he had great seasons at United, then he had years of more complicated management with changes of coaches, and perhaps he struggled too because they demanded a lot of things from him there. But we're happy with him - that's the most important thing.

"These aren't decisions for now. Now it's time to focus on the games to come. A decision will be made, but that's not being discussed right now. There's a contract between the clubs, but it [the future] has to be discussed."
