Meeting with president as Nottingham Forest lurk in background for manager

Nottingham Forest’s previous attempt to hire manager Abel Ferreira still lingers in the background for Palmeiras.

The Portuguese coach remains focused on his club, where he recently met with president Leila Pereira to discuss plans for the coming months, according to several local outlets. The meeting took place while rumours from England linked him again to Forest.

Pereira, known in Brazil for her firm and no-nonsense leadership, reportedly approved one of Abel’s latest transfer requests, as told by BolaVip.

The club are moving to sign defender Bruno Fuchs from Atlético Mineiro as they prepare for the next season. Palmeiras also sit top of the Brazilian league, chasing titles on multiple fronts.

Despite the talk surrounding him, Abel appears committed to finishing the season in São Paulo. His new deal, valid until December 2027, includes no release clause for either side. That detail leaves the door open for future approaches, should Nottingham Forest decide to revisit the idea.

The Premier League club had already tried to land him in September, shortly after parting ways with Nuno Espírito Santo. They eventually turned to Ange Postecoglou, who has struggled since taking charge. With five defeats and two draws, pressure on the Australian coach is growing.

For now, Abel stays focused, but the story between him and Forest may not be over yet.
