Cowboys Get Unfortunate News Before Facing Commanders

Entering the Dallas Cowboys‘ Week 7 matchup at home against the Washington Commanders, the team badly needs to come through with a win. After losing to the Carolina Panthers last week by a final score of 30-27, the Cowboys hold a 2-3-1 record heading into the NFC East rivalry showdown.

Thankfully, the team did receive some good news. Dallas will have star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb back on the field after he missed multiple games due to an ankle injury.

Dak Prescott has kept the offense playing at a high level. However, the concerns on the defensive side of the football have been difficult to overcome thus far.

While Lamb will be back on the field, the Cowboys are still dealing with some injury concerns. A new update has been shared about another wide receiver that dealt Dallas some unfortunate news before facing the Commanders.

As shared by Patrik Walker, a reporter who covers the team, the Cowboys will likely not have wide receiver Jonathan Mingo available for this week’s game.

"It'll be ‘probably next week' for Jonathan Mingo returning from IR - per SJ to 105.3 the Fan," Walker wrote on X. "The Cowboys have until Wednesday to activate him or his season will end. Caelen Carson will be activated from IR this weekend, per SJ (this was slated to happen even before Diggs news)."

Mingo was acquired from the Panthers last year and has yet to be able to make a major impact for Dallas. He’s a very talented wide receiver, but has not been able to put it all together in the NFL.

So far this season, Mingo has been unable to play after suffering a PCL sprain during preseason action. He was subsequently placed on injured reserve and has missed the first six weeks of the 2025 season.

Last year after being acquired by the Cowboys, Mingo played in eight games. He caught just five passes for 46 yards. In his 32-game NFL career, Mingo has racked up 60 receptions for 585 yards, but has yet to score a touchdown.

At 24 years old, there is still time for Mingo to resurrect his career. Hopefully, he’s able to get back to full health and on the field for next week’s game as Dallas takes on the Denver Broncos in a difficult road matchup.
