CLEVELAND, OHIO (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans! Hello from Cleveland, where it looks like we've got one more decent day before the weather takes a turn for the worse, just in time for the Browns game tomorrow.
THE DAILY BLOVIATION
So, I wrote an entire bloviation today, crumpled it up, and threw it away. I do that sometimes, so please excuse me for being a little late with the Massive Morning Missive this AM.
The bloviation was about whether the OBR was holding back too much in terms of expressing angst about the team's current situation, and my explaining that I felt that the site's job is more about analysis than stoking emotion like a radio sportsyapper. It was boring, so out it went, never to be published. Hopefully, what I'm about to write is somewhat less boring, although still maintaining the requisite level of boring you've come to expect from the Daily Bloviation:
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN: Speaking of angst, Baker Mayfield's terrific 2025 campaign to date has many expressing remorse that the Browns moved on from Baker to the scrambling disaster that Deshaun Watson turned out to be. The general conclusion is that whoever made that decision should be booted to the curb, a crystal clear vision due to the advantage of 20/20 hindsight.
People who like their football with an edge would probably be even more fired up to know that the Browns came close to hiring now-Lions head coach Dan Campbell in the years before the Deshaun Disaster. Yet, Dan Campbell interviewed with the Browns, but didn't make a positive impression with team owner Jimmy Haslam, who was less interested in a coach who himself was committed to running the football, which analytics said wasn't necessarily the way forward.

At least that's the scenario painted by Tyler Dunne, who relates a story about how Haslam's involvement instead helped lead the Browns to one-year-wonder Freddie Kitchens as the team's head coach. I'm guessing that there are some fans who would now dispute the wisdom of that decision, as well, given hindsight and the Browns' continued struggles.
Dan Campbell and Baker Mayfield? Is there such a thing as "too much football guy"? Because that would have been quite the combo.
TRYOUTS: The Browns tried out a number of players yesterday, according to the NFL Transaction Report:
Conley, Jack G Boston College
Hawkins, Tre DB Old Dominion
Herring, Tyron DB Delaware
Johnson, Marcellus T Missouri
Miller, Glendon DB Maryland
Robinson, Layden G Texas A&M
The Browns, clearly, are looking at the offensive line and defensive backfield, both of which make sense given how the season is going. Layden Robinson is particularly interesting, as he was a fourth-round pick by the Patriots last year and had some injury problems. He was a second-team All-SEC lineman his final year at Texas A&M. He made several starts for the Patriots last year.
THE AI BUBBLE: As a small business owner (and webdork), I've been trying over and over to figure out how to use artificial intelligence to improve my little empire. We're certainly not going to use it to write articles, as we believe those are the exclusive domain of actual humans, and AI tends to get facts wrong and provide "slop" content. That's not stopping other sites, many of which have taken over once-respectable domains and filled them with junk which they hope goes viral.
I've tried to use it to help me edit videos and produce graphics for the site, but they always take a long time and never really produce what I want, so I spend as much time correcting AI mistakes as anything else. The only thing I really use it for is to speed up searching the web for information, which it does pretty quickly. Now there's burgeoning talk about there being an AI bubble as other businessmen like myself discover it has certain niches for use, but it's far from a magic bullet. Now, about that aggressive stock portfolio which I don't own!
So, I think that talk that AI will replace real writers and produce the insight we expect from humans is very much exaggerated. Maybe we'll have a job this time next year, after all.
Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

Ace Frehley leaves a space and sci-fi legacy in rock: A tribute to the 'Spaceman' from KISS - (space.com)
I wasn't a KISS fan growing up, gravitating more to bands like Genesis and Yes until the first Clash album forever subverted my musical tastes. But a lot of my friends were fans of the band, and the passing of guitarist Ace Frehley was noted on the forums two days ago. So, I figured I would share this article from Space.com discussing Frehely's fascination with space and his spaceman persona.
