Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri are making progress but are still out of the club’s matchday squad to face Everton on Saturday due to injury.

The pair of players have not featured for City since the club’s 2-1 loss to Brighton at the American Express Stadium on 31 August.

In addition, neither player was on the pitch when their nations each punched their tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the recent international break.

However, City head coach Pep Guardiola stated that the pair were back in training and well on their way to being back on the pitch.

“They trained yesterday and are much better,” Guardiola said, speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Everton.

“They’re close to being back.”

Marmouch scored one goal in six games of Egypt’s World Cup qualifying campaign and has bagged one goal in four Premier League appearances this season.

Ait-Nouri played in five of Algeria’s qualifiers and has featured four times for City this season since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
