Carlos Alcaraz has been rewarded for his influential cameo in the comeback win over Crystal Palace with a start against Manchester City.
The 22-year-old is one of three changes as David Moyes deals with the ineligibility of key man Jack Grealish, who cannot play against his parent club. Alongside Alcaraz, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall returns from his one game suspension.
The pair will form an attacking midfield unit with Iliman Ndiaye that will aim to support Beto, the other incoming player. Grealish, as expected, plus Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry make way for the incoming players.
In a boost for Moyes, the rest of the team remains unchanged because Michael Keane has recovered from the rib injury that saw him taken off during the second half against Palace.
While Jarrad Branthwaite is moving towards a return he was not deemed ready to start at the Etihad and Keane partners James Tarkowski, Vitalii Mykolenko and Jake O'Brien at the back. Like Tarkowski, Jordan Pickford will make his first appearance since signing a new deal over the international break.
Pickford; Mykolenko, Tarkowski, Keane, O'Brien; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Alcaraz; Beto
Bemch: Travers, King, Coleman, Iroegbunam, McNeil, Aznou, Rohl, Barry
