Despite City looking the stronger team for the remainder of the first half and start of the second, Liverpool once again went ahead.
Josh Abe converted Sonni-Lambie’s rebound. But City retaliated instantly, once again. Jake Wain thumped his close-range effort into the back of the net with all to play for in the final 20 minutes.
But fortune fell in favour of Liverpool with Sonni-Lambie’s 85th-minute strike the decisive moment to see City fall to our first defeat in 2025/26.
