Steve Froggatt on the programme front
On this day (18th October) in 1998 the Sky Blues managed by Gordon Strachan were nine games into their Premier League campaign with only one win to show for their efforts – an opening day Highfield Road 2-1 defeat of Chelsea. Since then there had been two draws and five defeats to make Sky Blues’ fans miserable with only a two leg League Cup defeat of lower league Southend United to offer some cheer.
City badly needed a win today at the home of the Sky Blues as they took on Sheffield Wednesday and SKY TV cameras and three over 16,000 fans had gathered to watch. In truth, neutral viewers would have found little to enthuse about but the vital Sky Blues 1-0 win over the Owls, thanks to a second half strike from (now CCFPA member) Dion Dublin gave us some hopes we might climb out of the current relegation zone.
