Former Everton boss Sean Dyche is being hotly tipped for a return to football following Ange Postecoglou's sacking as Nottingham Forest manager.
Postecoglou was sacked on Saturday within minutes of his side losing 3-0 at home to Chelsea, with the Australian dismissed after just 39 days in charge at the City Ground.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis could be seen to have left his seat during the second half of the defeat to the Londoners, and moments after the final whistle the club released a brutal statement confirming that Postecoglou had been dismissed.
The club said: "Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The Club will make no further comment at this time.
Dyche has been out of work since being sacked. by Everton in January, with the former Burnley boss seeing his side just one point above the relegation zone after winning just three of their first 19 Premier League matches of the season.
He has been installed as the odds-on favourite for the now vacant role at the City Ground, and speaking earlier this month he indicated he would be ready to return to management if the time was right.
“Once you’re in it, you immerse yourself in it, but when you get a break from it, it’s time to just step back and enjoy life a little bit,” he said.
"The strange thing in football management is that the job comes and gets you, you don’t ring up clubs and say ‘Oh, any danger?’.
“So, if the timing is right and they want you to come do it, then we interview and see if we get it. At the minute, I'm quite enjoying watching what's going on rather than being immersed in it.”
