'We saw him' - What Ange Postecoglou did in the tunnel immediately after losing to Chelsea

Ange Postecoglou’s reaction around the time of his Nottingham Forest sacking has been revealed.

Postecoglou was dismissed by Evangelos Marinakis mere minutes after his side’s 3-0 loss against Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime.

The 60-year-old lasted just 39 days in the role, the shortest reign in Premier League history, with the club’s owner wasting no time in acting following the final whistle.

Indeed, the club statement confirming the decision was released in the immediate aftermath of the game, and Ange Postecoglou was quick to leave the ground for the final time.

What Ange Postecoglou did before Nottingham Forest sack news

TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach took viewers through the Australian’s movements before he headed out to the car park, having been informed of his sacking only moments before.

“I imagine the players are surprised,” said Breach.

“After the interview, Morgan Gibbs-White was taken into the dressing room with the players and after that they were all taken into the boardroom where I imagine a long meeting will be happening now.

“Just so you know, from what we saw in the tunnel, prior to that interview, Ange Postecoglou went into the dressing room, spoke to his players, but he then actually went to the other side of the tunnel area.

“We saw him come out of there and Edu was in the corridor as well at the time. Ange Postecoglou left with a bag on his back and went towards the car park. At that point, it seemed like the writing was on the wall.

“As far as we’re aware, Ange Postecoglou has left the stadium, or at least he isn’t in the tunnel area. That’s the latest I can bring you.”

What’s next for Nottingham Forest?

Forest released a terse 39-word statement announcing Postecoglou’s departure on Saturday.

It read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Forest could now look to appoint a manager until the end of the season, with Sean Dyche rumoured to be a contender and out of work, before Marinakis appoints a longer-term replacement in the summer.

TBR Football has reported that the Greek businessman is a big admirer of Fulham boss Marco Silva.
