Ange Postecoglou's nightmare start to life as Nottingham Forest manager has ended with the Australian given his marching orders by owner Evangelos Marinakis.
A 3-0 defeat to Chelsea meant it was eight games without a win for the former Tottenham Hotspur boss at the helm at the City Ground and that reverse proved to be the final straw for Marinakis.
Postecoglou was relieved of his job within minutes of the full-time whistle, with a short statement released on the club's website in the aftermath.
The statement read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.
"The club will make no further comment at this time."
Unwanted record
Postecoglou
Postecoglou claimed the unwanted record of becoming the first Forest boss to fail to win his first eight games in charge and eight games is where his record will stay after being sacked.
Forest had the better of the opportunities in the first half against the west Londoners but could not find a goal and a resurgent Blues side made them pay with goals from Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto and Reece James ending Postecoglou's misery.
Marinakis moment

Postecoglou had been under pressure long before the match against Chelsea, given a winless seven games prior to it and what Marinakis did during the game spoke volumes about the Australian's future at the club.
Marinakis is normally present at every Nottingham Forest game and this one was no different, with the TNT Sports cameras showing him in the stands during the first half. But midway through the second half, with Forest 2-0 behind, Marinakis was nowhere to be seen.
When the TNT Sports camera panned to his seat in the stands again, it was empty, with the Forest owner deciding to go elsewhere in the stadium to make the call to relieve Postecoglou of his duties.
Postecoglou was informed immediately after the full-time whistle of Marinakis' brutal decision and after saying goodbye to his players in the dressing room, left the City Ground immediately.
Attention will now turn to who succeeds the Australian in the hotseat, with Sean Dyche heavily linked with the job before Postecoglou was sacked. Fulham boss Marco Silva is another name who has been linked with the job, while former Forest boss Steve Cooper has also been linked with a surprise return to the club.
