The first 45 minutes saw good chances created for both sides, with Beto coming close on two occasions for the visitors, whilst Savinho and Jeremy Doku tested Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.
Phil Foden’s wonderful corner deflected off Jake O’Brien and cannoned off the crossbar, before another Foden corner saw Nathan Ake head just wide of the post.
After the interval, we remained on the front foot and took the lead shortly before the hour mark, as Foden’s immaculate pass set Nico O’Reilly through on the left-flank to cross for the unmarked Haaland to power in a header, making it 11 matches in succession for club and country that our No.9 has scored in.
Five minutes later, Haaland doubled his tally with a smart first-time finish from Savinho’s pass taking his league tally to 11.
The Norwegian almost grabbed his hat-trick in stoppage time after being played through sensationally by Foden, but Pickford stood tall to stop the effort, before the striker went one on one with Pickford again, but the goalkeeper once again blocked the strike.
He couldn’t grab the treble, but we claimed all three points to temporarily move top of the Premier League!
